Dil Chahta Hai

Innovative trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy bring youthful zest to Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai, giving form to Javed Akhtar's coming-of-age lyrics. The languid, winding bass in the title track establishes the carefree attitudes of these modern protagonists, and, in a first for Bollywood music, the Australian didgeridoo sounds in “Jaane Kyon”. But that isn’t the end of the composers’ experimentation: “Woh Ladki Hai Kahan” features bagpipes in a charming tap dance break, while disco-pop banger “Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe” captures the effervescent spirit of this critically lauded album.
