Album Review

Phenomenal album for neuro-lovers. I think this is one of the most deep and emotional piece made by the duo, with incredibly powerful tracks coupled with insane sound design as expected by them.

If you're into KOAN Sound or similar artists already, or looking for a bass-filled sonic experience while still retaining a deep and powerful atmosphere, this album is for you.

Tracks review

1. Silk Wave - 5/5

The titular track of the EP, this is the original one that I've loved; The sound design is out-of-this-world.

2. Cosmic Tuba - 3.5/5

This is probably the track I resonate with the least, it's not as emotionally deep as the three other tracks off the EP, but deliver a satisfying sound-design oriented track, with very good tuba sampling. Quite simply, what KOAN Sound does best.

3. Grounded - 5/5

This track. There's just nothing to say about it, it feels slow but still incredibly powerful, the vocals are impactful and will just make you feel a ton of things.

4. Taken Under - 4.5/5

Originally a track I didn't enjoy much, it has grown a lot onto me. It's the deepest and maybe saddest track off the album, delivering an experience like no other track. The ethereal vocals and the breaks just give this track impact and depth, with the vocals anchoring the vibe. Although the lyrics don't seem to tell much, you can still build a whole story around them in your head.

Final words

I personally think this is the most consistant and emotional work by KOAN Sound, and any fan of bass music should at least experience this album.

A remix album has also been released, with other artists takes on the tracks - In short, It's a good remix album but doesn't top the original; still worth a listen!
