Essentially a companion piece to last year's DVD of the same concert, this double CD finally sees an official release for an oft-bootlegged, legendary gig by the Boss.

It's legendary for a reason. This was when a city, subjected to the notorious 'London is finally ready for Bruce Springsteen' poster campaign, got to see what the fuss was about. The Time and Newsweek covers had almost stalled his career in the US, but luckily, the E Street band, and the recently released Born To Run album, were more than a match for the 'future of rock 'n' roll' tag.

Considered a poor night by Springsteen, it now shines out as a premier demonstration of his Phil Spector-meets-R'n'B beat poetry genre that spawned so many imitators. Exploding onto the stage with "Thunder Road" and never looking back, this is a document brimming with passion and fire. Mannah from heaven for fans and doubters alike...
