In 2008, Sony Music Entertainment decided to outsource its European supply chain organization to German company arvato, establishing a 4PL solution in which arvato manages internal and external suppliers & service providers on behalf and in the interest of Sony Music. Today arvato:

• operates and manages Sony Music’s European supply chain including Sony’s legal entity Sony Music Entertainment International Services GmbH – for affiliates in more than 20 European countries plus additional clients, licensees and affiliates of SME worldwide;
• runs the European copyright administration;
• provides comprehensive financial services as well as meta data services; and
• controls and manages central IT projects for Sony Music.
